Duk-Pagaak County, Western Equatoria State of Maridi, Yambio and Tumbura

Professionalism
AFEF delivers activities through a spirit of volunteerism to build sustainable communities and intercultural exchange thriving villages in our country. Managed by a group of professional South Sudanese in various field of competency and diligence realized the cry and suffering of South Sudan people and on their behalf volunteered to serve the communities as they are deprived, victims of GBV and persons living with HIV/AID unveiling the trauma and stigma.
The Executive Director, Ms. Judith Guo Dickson has over ten (10) years’ experience in Humanitarian Aid services as a Gender Advocacy capacity builder and consultant in a number of international, National and UN Agencies organizations.

With a staff experienced enough with tools, knowledge, and connections acquired over the years, are competent to provide client centered quality services and achieve its goal, of improving human rights, livelihoods, increase income and access to basic services – water, hygiene, sanitation, education and health.

Taking no advantage to exploit a person basing on his/ her sexuality. Ensure equal and active participation by women and men, girls and boys in assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programmes through systematic use of participatory methods.
Engage the community fully in understanding and promoting gender equality and power relations that protect and respect the rights of women and girls.
AFEF has integrated and mainstreamed GBV interventions into all programmes and all sectors. Extending fullest cooperation and assistance to each other in preventing and responding to violence, includes sharing situation analysis and assessment of information to avoid duplication and maximising a shared understanding of the situation and ensuring accountability at all levels.
AFEF engage with our partners and each other with honesty, professionalism, accountability, and transparency to earn the credibility and trust required to bring about the changes needed to achieve justice especially, for women and girls.
AFEF is dedicated and committed to contribute in solving some of the leading problems facing South Sudan today – helping to find local solutions to challenges and sowing the seeds of lasting change. Ensuring inclusive development, systemic change, local ownership, and contextualized solutions recognizing diversity within South Sudan. We also recognize that involving affected people contribute effetely to and benefit from access to quality basic services, and opposing discrimination and exclusion in any form.
Action for Equality Foundation (AFEF) courage sufficient dissemination of information through advocacy to do the right thing and speak out even in the face of strong opposition, and promote positive, hopeful messages of change.
AFEF acknowledge that human change requires the consent of the client, no matter how well is the intention, and people and institutions take time to change that requires creativity, determination, and resilience, ensuring that the benefits of the actions outweigh the risks.
Human rights violations
Sexual violence in South Sudan has been instrumental zed as a reward and entitlement for youth and men participating in conflict. It serves as a means of building ethnic solidarity to mete out retribution against perceived enemies; the objective being to inflict maximum disruption and the destruction of the fabric of communities, including through their constant displacement. This scourge has had the most profound impact on victims, their families and communities.
Work Projects
AFEF provides services in capacity building on GBV/SGBV, Protection awareness raising and campaigns and advocacy, Rehabilitation of CFS supporting vulnerable children and at risk children’s, out of school and vulnerable children, supporting women and men in realizing their potential deployment of both local and international volunteers to various community projects, capacity Building sessions to women, men, stakeholders, youth groups, and other partners
Civil war
Only a few years after independence from Sudan, a civil war broke out. South Sudan’s independence ends decades of conflict as well as socioeconomic and political marginalization at the hands of successive governments in Khartoum, which affected women in gender-specific ways. Independence thus opens up opportunities for women’s economic and social empowerment, ensuring that the new country’s political and economic structures and institutions reflect commitments to women’s participation and human rights. In turn, empowering women will enable South Sudan to strengthen its economic and political structures and institutions.
