The infant mortality rate in South Sudan in 2006 was 102 per 1000 live births. Which was the ninth highest in the world. In the same year, the maternal mortality rate was .....
Agriculture development is a big priority of the government since over 80% of the population lives in rural areas and heavily rely on Agriculture for their livelihoods.
South Sudan’s education indicators remain among the worst in the world, despite increases in school enrolment over the past few years.
Where AFEF originated?
South Sudan emerged from a long war through a referendum, which lead to independence in 2011. The country was then plunged into a civil unrest that ended six years after signing a revitalized peace agreement in September 2018, and subsequent formation of the Government of National Unity in February 2020. Since then conflict events decreased contributing significantly to recovery and peace-building in the country.
Progress with evidence of continuous fruitful activities and steady involvement of South Sudanese citizens ready for development, adaptation to change, and open for opportunities and awareness of risks is at the moment being witnessed. However, despite the expected growth, uncertainties to provide opportunities to some disadvantaged people who experienced most unspeakable poverty, turmoil, and violence during the war and civil unrest in South Sudan remained unrealized. This group include children denied education, die from treatable and preventable diseases, forced into child labor, and married off as soon as they reach puberty, and gender-based violence.
Survivors of these atrocities lack substantial support to recover from the physical and psychological trauma they endured mainly in the rural villages.
It is with this background that Action for Equality Foundation (AFEF) was formed. Driven by social impact, trying to work with people from deprived backgrounds to empower them through the arts and creativity of giving more people the opportunity to equity and equal life.
These hazards in South Sudan curtailed National priority to rally its people to initiate and accelerate development of key community development sectors. International Development partners continue efforts to provide life-saving support to communities across the country and significant needs remain across all sectors of interventions especially, protection against vulnerable groups, children and women.
Action For Equality Foundation (AFEF) was born by a group of professional south Sudanese in various field of competency who diligently have come together realizing the cry and suffering of the people of South Sudan and endeavor to purposely give in to serve the communities saving lives through advocating on behalf of the vulnerable, deprived, the victims of SGBV and persons living with HIV/AID unveiling the trauma and stigma.
