Empowering Children Through Child Rights Clubs and Menstrual Hygiene Education in Juba County

On June 28th, 2026, Action for Equality Foundation successfully conducted education activities at Nyarjua Primary School in Kapuri Payam, Juba County, Central Equatoria State (CES) as part of its continued commitment to promoting children’s rights and ensuring safe, inclusive learning environments.
Formation of Child Rights Clubs

As part of the activity, two Child Rights Clubs were established at the school. The clubs provide a safe space where pupils can learn about their rights and responsibilities, develop leadership skills, and actively participate in promoting a child-friendly school environment. They will also help raise awareness about child protection and encourage peer-to-peer learning.
Menstrual Hygiene Management Awareness
The activity included menstrual hygiene management sessions for adolescent girls. Participants received practical information on menstrual health, personal hygiene, and the importance of maintaining dignity and confidence during menstruation. The sessions also encouraged girls to remain in school and participate fully in their education.
Child Rights Awareness
In addition to the MHM sessions, pupils were sensitized on key child rights messages, including the rights to education, protection, participation, and development. The discussions encouraged children to speak up against abuse, respect one another, and contribute to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
Action for Equality Foundation remains committed to empowering children through education, child protection, and community engagement. By establishing Child Rights Clubs and promoting menstrual hygiene awareness, the Foundation continues to create opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive in safe and inclusive school environments.
